Pack like a pro
A tidy unit is a bigger unit.
Same-size boxes
Uniform boxes stack straight and tall, so you use the height of the unit, not just the floor.
Label two sides
Write what's inside on the top and one side, so you can read it no matter how it's stacked.
Heavy low, light high
Books and tools on the bottom, lampshades and linens up top.
Stand it on end
Mattresses, tabletops and sofas stored on end free up a surprising amount of floor.
Keep a walkway
Leave a path to the back wall. Future you, looking for the holiday lights, says thanks.
Last in, first out
Things you'll need soonest go in last, right by the door.
